Vatican Museum

After St. Peter's we headed down the street to the Vatican Museum, home of the Sistine Chapel. Apparently there is usually a ridiculously long line, but luckily for us we just walked right in! The museum was incredibly huge, and we spent many hours wandering through. There was a lot of beautiful art- of special note to me was Raphael's "The School at Athens." Of not so special note was the Sistine Chapel, which, while beautiful, was entirely not what I expected.

Of course, before the museum we had to stop at the Vatican post office to mail postcards!

Me, trying to look fierce with the statue of the Amazon. I'm not sure I pulled it off as well as her, though.

We then found this statue which looked surprisingly like my father! I suppose I must have lost track of a few of his birthdays!!

Surprisingly, a large part of the museum was outside, which meant we were frequently lost. Knowing the museum ended at the Sistine Chapel, we continually went in the opposite direction of any sign pointing towards it. Unfortunately, between this courtyard and the Sistine Chapel was the majority of the museum. Eventually we found our way.

Zach's favourite statue. We came to the museum with this statue as a priority, but missed it our first time through. Luckily, because we were lost, we came through a second time and found it then!
